DESCRIPTION:
 
Jesus was a supernatural gift from God.  As Matthew recored, an angel of God visit Joesph, son of David and told him not to marry Mary and to call the son she was carry Jesus.  The angel said to Joesph, “Look! The virgin will conceive a child! She will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means ‘God is with us.’”  And as told in the book of Luke of the coming Messiah and God’s gift to the world, “And you will recognize him by this sign: You will find a baby wrapped snugly in strips of cloth, lying in a manger.”…just as baby Jesus is depicted in this oil painting.  And so Jesus, was born as “Son of God”, to fulfill the laws of sacrifice of the old testament and to be the final sacrificial lamb of God.  Born of a virgin without the sin or Adam, Jesus walked among us as an example of God’s perfection.  Even as a helpless infant, He came to this world to fulfill a purpose.  The cross in His eyes in this painting are a symbol of His knowledge of that from birth.  When Jesus died on the cross His very last words were, “It is finished”.
