BIBLE VERSE:

“For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes”

- Romans 1: 16

INSPIRATION DESCRIPTION:

Jesus finished the work on the cross.  The tomb is empty.  God left us with His Holy Spirit to guide, comfort and teach us ALL things about the heavenly Kingdom and Lord Jesus.  Yet many do not yet have eyes to see and ears to hear “The Good News”

The New Testament was originally written in Greek. The word “Gospel” (“Euangelion” in Greek) means “good news”.   It’s also where we get the word evangelist or evangelical from.

Jesus came to earth as a human, but with the full power of God, and because of our sinful nature, Jesus, through his life, death, and resurrection, saved us from our deserved punishment—eternal separation from God.

This is “the Good News”. We are no longer slaves to sin, but “by his wounds, we have been healed.”

“He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.” —1 Peter 2:24

This life-saving message is the message of salvation—the transformational news that God loves us and offers forgiveness, reconciliation, and eternal life through faith in His son. Without Jesus, we are left to our sins and set apart from God. But because of the Good News—God’s gift of grace to us, we are justified and no longer separated from God. Wow! That is Good News!

“…for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” —1 Peter 3:23-24

In addition to hearing and accepting the Good News, we are commanded by Jesus to go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:18-20). God calls us to share His message of salvation with others throughout the world. This is the Great Commission.

So the Good News is proclaimed and lives are transformed.

“The Gospel is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” —Romans 1:16

Hearts and lives are transformed when previously unreached communities hear the Good News. When the Gospel comes to a village, and believers begin to live out Kingdom principles, this is living proof of a loving God. As a result, life improves for the entire community, both believers and non-believers.

When people turn away from their old lives and choose to live a life devoted to God, their thoughts, actions, and motivations are transformed, and they desire to love people in a new way.

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.

—2 Corinthians 5:17

May “The Good News” reign over America again, and to all the nations of the world.

————

For Christians, this good news includes being loved by God and being forgiven for bad things. Christians believes Jesus is a friend to the poor and friendless.

Jesus announced that the Kingdom of God is here and that God’s reign over Israel was being restored.

And it was going to be through him. This was the “Good News”.

But the political people at the time didn’t like Jesus’ message because it threatened their jobs. He was saying that God’s kingdom was going to take over. So they killed him.

Little did they know that this sacrifice of an innocent, sinless life is exactly what needed to happen to cover the sins of anyone that believed in Jesus and the message that he preached.

But he didn’t remain dead. Three days later he rose from the dead, proving that he was the true king and God’s kingdom reigned supreme.

And the best news of all is that Jesus offers to share this victory with us. That we are no longer held down by the Law, but we can be free and we can live for eternity in heaven and eventually a New Earth. That we can’t earn our salvation, but it’s a free gift. That’s the best news ever. That’s the gospel. And you get to choose whether or not you want to believe it and accept it. One thing I do know is that it’s God’s heart for you to choose life.

If you want to learn more about the Gospel, the first four books of the New Testament are actually called “The Gospels”. They’re from different perspectives of guys named Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. And then you can read the book of Acts to learn how other people began to spread this message of “Good News”.

And now it’s on us to continue spreading it.
